Assistant Coach Kendra Potts

Kendra Potts recently completed her second season as the assistant volleyball coach at Texas A&M-Corpus Christi and will begin her seventh season as an assistant to Islander head coach Tony Graystone.  Potts was a driving force behind the Islanders 2010 recruiting class, which was ranked among the top 100 in the nation, and has helped Coach Graystone put together a very talented team with high expectations for 2011.

Before coming to the island, Potts spent four seasons at West Texas A&M as an assistant to Graystone after she spent four years as a standout player for the school.  Potts, an Amarillo, Texas native, was a Lady Buff standout from 2000-2003, and served as WTAMU's graduate assistant after she completed her four-year degree.

Potts was a standout for WTAMU, being named All-Lone Star Conference all four years of her career, while also receiving the LSC Freshman of the Year award.  She was named LSC South Offensive player of the year following her senior season.  Potts was also a three-time AVCA All-American and four-time All-Southwest Region player.  In 2002, Potts was named the LSC Tournament MVP and led her team to its fourth-straight conference title and NCAA tournament trip.  The Lady Buffs made it all the way to the Elite Eight of the NCAA Division II volleyball tournament under the leadership of Potts.  She finished her career as just the 12th person to ever reach 6,000 career assists in NCAA DII history with a total of 6,087.  Her assists put her at 10th on the all-time assists list and third in the career average list with 12.58 APG.  Potts has also been a club coach in the Amarillo region, guiding her team to five-straight Junior National tournaments.

Potts graduated with a marketing degree from West Texas A&M in 2004 and received her MBA from the university in 2007.  With her degree, Potts assisted in the successful fund-raising efforts for the Lady Buffs during her time as an assistant coach.  Potts and her husband Jim reside in Corpus Christi.
